Salty is not your average croc. This saltwater crocodile is a true apex predator—a hypercarnivorous ambush hunter capable of taking nearly any animal that crosses into his territory, from fish and crustaceans to birds, reptiles, and mammals. Due to their massive size and sheer power, saltwater crocodiles are considered the most dangerous living crocodilian species—and Salty is a prime example of why.
Originally imported from Sri Lanka, Salty joined Gatorama after a tragic accident claimed our previous Porosus during a breeding attempt. Since arriving, he’s been carefully conditioned to Allen’s voice and quickly became part of the Gatorama family.
Salty isn’t part of regular shows (he’s a bit of a celebrity recluse) but if you’re lucky, you might catch him in action while our keepers maintain his habitat. And yes, rumor has it that Ben has been close enough to smell Salty’s breath. (iykyk)
