Learn about Florida’s stealthy, native wild cats and the important role they play in keeping our local ecosystem balanced. Bobcat Outpost features our resident bobcats, showcasing their beautiful spotted coats, tufted ears, and signature bobbed tails. This exhibit highlights the importance of preserving native predators in the wild. Bobcats naturally inhabit a wide range of Florida environments, from dense hardwood hammocks to swampy marshlands, hunting on a strictly carnivorous diet of rabbits, squirrels, rodents, and ground birds. As solitary and highly territorial hunters, their wild population density is naturally very low, requiring several square miles of territory per cat, which is why we maintain a highly personalized, low-density habitat to ensure our resident bobcats feel completely secure and relaxed.
