Stand on our secure, elevated bridge and gaze down at the absolute king of Gatorama. This deep-water exhibit is home to Goliath, our legendary, dominant 15-foot American Crocodile who has called our park home since 1968. Watching Goliath interact with his giant neighbors is a breathtaking reminder of the raw size and power of these ancient creatures.
American Crocodiles naturally inhabit coastal brackish water, salt marshes, and mangrove swamps, where they feed primarily on fish, crabs, birds, and small mammals. Because they are historically endangered and highly territorial, their wild population density remains quite low and spread out along Florida’s southern coastlines, but our specially managed front ponds allow a small, cohesive group of these massive reptiles to coexist safely under close staff supervision.

Fun Fact: Goliath has been at Gatorama for over 50 years and is easily recognized by his massive size and the way he dominates the front pond!
Gatorama Explorer Question: Look closely at Goliath’s snout compared to the alligators nearby. What shape is his snout, and can you see his teeth when his mouth is closed?
