Say hello to our incredibly sweet, docile, and hairy heritage pigs originally from New Zealand. Kunekune Country features our friendly, flat-nosed Kunekune pigs who love nothing more than getting gentle belly rubs, taking mud baths, and greeting visitors at the fence line. Developed by the indigenous Maori people, Kunekunes are historically pasture-dwelling animals that thrive in open grasslands and woodlands. They are unique grazing pigs, feeding on a healthy diet of grasses, roots, and vegetables. As a domesticated heritage breed, their population density is entirely managed by agricultural and sanctuary care, allowing us to keep a small, happy, and low-stress group of pigs living comfortably together in their spacious mud-and-grass paddock.

Fun Fact: In the Maori language, “Kunekune” translates to “fat and round”—which perfectly describes these adorable, plump, and friendly pigs!
